An imbalance between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids is linked to a number of health problems. Nowadays, the nutritional value of food is declining and our current diet contains up to 15 times the prevalence of pro-inflammatory omega 6 from grains and some vegetable oils. The general recommendation is that the ratio of omega-6 : omega-3 fatty acids in the diet should be less than 5:1. Ideally, however, 3:1. But this is really hard to achieve nowadays, even with a healthy and varied diet. It is therefore advisable to supplement to balance the omega 3 ratio.

Fish oil
Zinzino only uses oils that are extracted from whole, unprocessed fish in its products. Primarily wild, short-lived small fish species such as anchovies or sardines are used for this purpose. For Zinzino, the fish oil is produced by LYSI, which has a certified quality system and meets the requirements of ISO 9001, GMP/API and BRC Global standard for food safety. Its certification guarantees the absence of heavy metals and other toxins. LYSI is also a member of Friends of the Sea for Sustainable Fisheries.
Extra virgin olive oil
BalanceOil uses hand-picked olives from the special Spanish Picual variety for its olive oil, which are characterized by their high omega-9 acid content and also have a high content of antioxidant polyphenols. Polyphenols ensure that BalanceOil is protected from oxidation not only in the bottle, but also in your body. Most omega 3 products use vitamin E as protection against oxidation in the bottle. The problem is that the product usually oxidizes only after consumption in the body. Zinzino has therefore enriched its products with polyphenols from virgin oil in addition to vitamin E.
Vitamin D3
BalanceOil is enriched with natural vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), which is produced from lanolin (fat from sheep's wool).
Natural tocopherols
Mixed tocopherols are antioxidants commonly used in dietary supplements. The natural tocopherols used are produced from distillates of highly refined oil from non GMO soybeans. These distillates undergo further refining and therefore contain no soy protein. Thanks to this, they do not cause any allergic reactions. The typical composition is: alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-tocopherols.

Recommended dosage
0.15 ml of BalanceOil per 1 kg of body weight. Adjust dosage to body weight. Suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding, small children. Breastfed babies get the nutritional values in breast milk. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Take preferably after dinner for better absorption by the liver overnight. 300 ml is about a month's supply. Everything will depend on your weight.
For example:
Adults weighing 50 kg: 7.5 ml per day.
Adults weighing 80 kg: 12 ml per day.
Adults weighing 100 kg: 15 ml per day.
Storage
Store unopened bottles in a dark, dry place at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Store opened bottles in the refrigerator and use within 45 days. At temperatures below 4 °C, the oil may become cloudy due to the solidification of the olive oil. At room temperature, the haze disappears.

Zinzino is a Norwegian company that has been on the market since 2005. In 2012, Zinzino acquired a 6% stake in the Norwegian company BioActive Foods AS and obtained the exclusive right to market its products and concepts. This was the beginning of a new era and Zinzino began to focus on health and body care. The concept of Zinzino Balance was born. In 2014, Zinzino acquired an 85% stake in Faun Pharma AS, a Norwegian company with a fully equipped, modern manufacturing facility and valuable experience in the development of health products, dietary supplements and cosmetics. It was a brand new facility where Zinzino began to research, develop and manufacture new products - efficiently and with high quality. In the same year, Zinzino bought out BioActive Foods and became the sole owner with a 100% stake. The deal has enabled us to better manage the development and growth of the Zinzino Balance concept.

Why is a balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 so important?
Omega-3 long-chain fatty acids is the collective name for a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA, DHA). Omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the human body on its own, so they must be supplied as part of the diet. However, supplementing essential omega 3 (EPA, DHA) in the right ratio - omega 6 : omega 3 (3:1) is almost impossible nowadays due to the lack of fresh fatty fish intake and the increasing consumption of industrially processed foods. For this reason, 95% of Europeans fail to get to a 3:1 ratio of omega3 to omega6 with diet alone. To balance this imbalance, it is advisable to supplement with Omega 3.
An imbalance of omega 6 and omega 3 affects the body and mind. Their balanced ratio is important for many body processes and functions. From brain function to muscle function, protection from oxidative stress to normal blood pressure and much more. We do get omega 3 from fish, but unfortunately not from the ones you buy in the store. The fish themselves get their Omega 3 from eating seaweed and most fish on the market, such as salmon, come from closed farms where they are fed compound feed. However, vegans can also choose from their products - the range also includes BalanceOil+ made from olive oil and seaweed.
The industry that manufactures dietary supplements with Omega 3 protects these fatty acids by artificially adding vitamin E as a preservative. However, it has been shown that vitamin E does not sufficiently prevent the oxidation of Omega 3 fatty acids during absorption, but can become a pro-oxidant under certain circumstances, rendering these supplements non-functional or even potentially harmful to the body!
