Usage:
- Massage MSM magnesium oil into the skin whenever it is most convenient.
- It is best applied to clean skin, although this is not necessary.
- Apply anywhere (arms, legs, chest) but avoid eyes, face, any sensitive areas and broken skin.

What is Zechstein
Healthstrong strives to provide the best magnesium, which is why they use Zechstein magnesium chloride - which is mined at source, 1,600 metres below ground level.
250 million years ago, this bitter salt was abundant in the Zechstein Sea. Over time, the sea filled in the underground deposits, which were then trapped by the overlying rocks.
As a result, while the Zechstein Sea no longer exists, these layers have been preserved, and are full of magnesium chloride, just as they were millions of years ago. This magnesium is therefore very pure and free of pollutants.
Geological location
The Zechstein Sea, which existed approximately 250 million years ago, was an important geological feature in the Late Permian. It covered an area equivalent to the North Sea today, as well as lowland areas in Britain, Germany and the northern European plain. The Zechstein Sea lay in the rain shadow of the central Pangea Mountains to the south.
This ancient sea has played a vital role in Earth's history and it is fascinating that life on land evolved from the same waters. The Zechstein Sea has experienced five cycles of floods and droughts over several million years. It was located at a depth of approximately 1,600 metres in northwestern Europe.
Interestingly, despite its proximity to the equator, the Zechstein Sea was formed as a result of marine transgression during the deglaciation phase. The southern part of Pangea, which represented the former and future Gondwanaland, supported glaciers during the Early Permian. Eventually the Zechstein Sea disappeared as part of the general marine regression that preceded and accompanied the Permian-Triassic extinction.
In summary, the Zechstein Sea has left its mark on the geological record and its evaporite rocks continue to be of economic importance in the North Sea petroleum province. These rocks include halite (commonly known as "rock salt"), anhydrite, dolomite and shale.
