Migraine - an unwelcome guest

Migraine is one of the most common health problems in the world and one of the top 20 causes of disability in adults. Women tend to suffer from migraine three times more often than men. Approximately 60% of women have regular migraines that coincide with their menstrual cycle.

What causes a migraine?

According to official sources, the exact extent of the mechanisms causing migraines remains unclear, but medical science believes that it is some kind of malfunction in serotonin metabolism, which causes dilation of the brain's arteries, and consequently vascular spasms in the extracranial blood vessels.

Chronic migraine can be caused by genetic predisposition, food, hypersensitivity to caffeine or other drugs, changes in weather, sleep or increased stress in personal or professional life. You are likely to suffer from chronic migraine if you have at least 8 migraines per month, or a total of 15 migraines and headaches combined per month.

We have already mentioned that food is a common reason that causes migraines. This can be any processed food, i.e. canned, cured meat or vegetables containing tyramine or nitrite - sausages. Also, aged cheese, bananas, caffeine, chicken liver, MSG, alcohol (especially red wine), yeast products (including bread), chocolate, red meat, shellfish, but the list is so extensive and individual that it is impossible to be precise and must be experimented with. Dietary modification is the key to healing many health problems.

Instead of using dangerous and addictive antidepressants, we should focus on natural alternatives without side effects on health. Use
