*Soil Association Certification Limited is the largest and oldest organic certification body in the UK. It is a subsidiary of a charity called the Soil Association. Products bearing the organisation's logo on their packaging give the consumer the assurance that they have been independently tested and regularly checked for their claims regarding ingredients, overall production and dealings with raw material suppliers. Organic certification from this body is your assurance that it is not a 'greenwashing' product.

It contains independently tested and proven broad spectrum UVA and UVB and powerful antioxidants that scavenge free radicals and counteract the harmful effects of the sun. Independent laboratory tests have rated its protection as "high" because it was able to prevent up to 98% of all UVA/UVB rays from penetrating.

Free of synthetic UV filters, preservatives, silicones, fragrances or dyes. The first sunscreen in the UK that was also certified organic. This balm works immediately after application, spreads easily (provided that it is stored at room temperature, it tends to harden in the cold), does not bleach, does not clog pores. Application

For perfect protection, apply the required amount of product at least 15min before exposing to the sun on exposed skin, and massage thoroughly into the skin to reduce the bleaching effect of zinc.

Face: Apply a small amount (pea-sized amount) of sunscreen to cleansed and toned face and neck instead of moisturizer. Try to apply a quantity that allows the botanicals to be absorbed within about 10 minutes - the formula will gradually absorb excess oil and moisture. Dry skin can absorb more, while oily or combination skin can absorb less, especially if make-up is applied on top of the cream.

TIP - swap make-up for mineral concealer to cover imperfections and boost the SPF factor.

The body: Apply a small amount - 2 to 3 pea-sized squeezes on legs and 3 on torso.

Sun exposure time: If your unprotected the skin is red after 10 minutes in the sun, you should re-apply the cream after 5 hours using a quantity the size of 2 pea balls. Always reapply after bathing, showering or towel drying. Allow the product to absorb into the skin before putting on a shirt or dress to prevent potential grease stains on your clothes. Do not expose yourself unnecessarily to the strongest sunlight, especially between 12 and 3 pm.

ZINC OXIDE - a micropigment (fine powder) of mineral origin that absorbs, reflects or scatters UV radiation, thereby protecting the skin. It has mild astringent and antiseptic properties and is resistant to bacteria and fungi, promotes wound healing and is used in the prevention or treatment of diaper rash.

It forms a protective barrier on the skin that is resistant to moisture, but unlike synthetic sun protection, it is not absorbed into the skin and its effects are much gentler on the skin. In Odylique sunscreen for babies you will find this kind of zinc oxide, the so-called uncoated (uncoated) without nano particles pure pharmaceutical grade zinc oxide.

BAMBUTTER - fairtrade, sourced directly from a women's cooperative in Africa, Odylique unrefined shea butter (shea butter) is highly moisturizing and emollient. Only RAW (raw), unrefined shea butter contains plant sterols and antioxidants, which give it its greatest benefits. These range from skin healing (wounds), cell renewal and skin elasticity to reducing irritation, inflammation, muscle pain, sun damage, scarring and stretch marks.

SILICA - Silica is a mineral that occurs naturally in sandstones, clay and granite, and is a natural part of plants and animals. It is used as a versatile ingredient in cosmetics and skin care for its ability to serve as an abrasive, mattifying and anti-caking agent.

However, it is most commonly used as an absorbent for its ability to absorb moisture and sweat (according to CosmeticsInfo.org). Silica can be found in decorative cosmetics because its spherical particles not only absorb sweat and oil, but also prevent light reflection and improve spreadability. Cosmetics must use an amorphous type of silica that is safe for humans.

SUNFLOWER OIL - Cold-pressed oil from the seeds of a special certified organic sunflower variety is a light, fast-absorbing oil with a very high content of antioxidant vitamin E and Omega 9 essential fatty acids that keep the skin soft and supple.

Sunflower oil also provides a smooth consistency for easy application. Other nutrients beneficial to the skin are vitamins A, D, minerals, lecithin and squalene (natural components of the skin). In addition to its moisturizing and soothing properties, this oil helps heal and protect the skin from free radicals and sun damage.

CANDELILLA WAX - vegetable wax obtained from the plant Euphorbia cerifera (Prysodium waxworm)which grows in north central Mexico and Texas. It acts as an emulsifier (binds substances together) and stabilizer (stabilizes emulsions).

The wax adds texture, thickens and creates a protective layer against drying. The wax forms a protective coating on the leaves of the plant (reminiscent of a candle to the touch), protecting it from the harsh, dry desert conditions. In the same way, it provides a breathable film on the skin and protects it from dehydration.

JOJOB OIL - suitable for all skin types, stimulating their natural processes. It is not comedogenic, but is best suited for very dry, cracked, eczematous skin, which it visibly protects from further damage.

It regenerates, moisturizes and keeps it naturally hydrated. This brings the skin back into balance. It reduces the visibility of scars and is also suitable for acne due to its healing and anti-inflammatory effects. Even though pure vegetable oils have not been proven to have a UV filter, jojoba oil slightly prolongs sun exposure (referred to as SPF 3-4).

CARNUBIAN WAX - vegetable wax obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian tropical palm, Copernicia cerifera. By drying and then crushing its leaves, the so-called carnauba wax is extracted from them, which is further refined and bleached.

The final product is therefore small amorphous wax flakes of a yellowish colour. Carnauba wax contains fatty acids, glycols and cinnamic acid. In a cream, it increases viscosity, thickens, acts as an emulsifier, adds texture, stiffness, elasticity, plasticity, shine and shimmer. It forms a film on the skin that protects from external influences and thanks to its durability, it prolongs the durability even in make-up. Carnauba wax is hypoallergenic and suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Sea buckthorn -_CO2 extract of sea buckthorn is rich in vitamins B, C, D, and vitamin E (a powerful antioxidant), also contains minerals and beta-carotene. It has antibacterial and antiviral effects, helps cell renewal, anti-wrinkles, strengthens tissue and soothes the skin. It is very effective on sunburnt skin.

RIGHT HERMAN -_CO2 extract specially selected to soothe sensitive, irritated skin. A special type of chamomile used by the Odylique brand has a proven anti-inflammatory effect similar to mild cortisone - but without the unwanted side effects.

MEDICINAL ROSEMARY - used in a wide range of cosmetic products for its antioxidant properties. In addition, it also has antimicrobial properties and can therefore be used as a natural preservative. In this case, it works by preventing the oxidation of oils and fats in cosmetic formulations (when exposed to oxygen).

JOJOBE ESTERS - the chemical structure of jojoba esters is very similar to that of human sebum, whale oil and its derivatives (used as plant substitutes). Jojoba esters are very resistant to oxidation. Thanks to these remarkable properties, they are used extensively in cosmetic products, where they act as emollients and stabilizers to extend their shelf life.

Jojoba esters add structure to products and are used to create silky oil gels without greasiness or stickiness, making them a great choice for emulsions and ointments of all kinds. They have moisturizing and soothing effects, reduce skin dryness, increase skin firmness and smooth wrinkles. They have no negative effects on health or the environment.

POLYHYDROXYSTEAR ACID - derived from castor oil. It is used as a suspending and dispersing agent, thickener, emulsifier. It reduces the surface tension of substances and promotes their mutual bonding.

It improves the spreadability and consistency of skin creams, body lotions and is very often added to sunscreen products because it promotes good pigment distribution. It is classified as a low safety risk substance and is under further investigation. It is allowed in certified organic cosmetics.
