*Spagyric calendula essence is an extract of calendula flowers that is obtained through a spagyric process. Spagyria is an ancient alchemical method of extracting medicinal substances from plants, which involves the decomposition of plant materials, followed by extraction and reuniting of the components. This process aims to extract the essential power and medicinal properties of the plant. Spagyric essences are used in traditional and alternative medicine to promote health and well-being. Calendula is known for its anti-inflammatory, healing and soothing properties and is often used in the form of oils, tinctures or essences for skin care and to promote psychological well-being.

Calendula, also known as marigold, turns its bright tangerine petals towards the sun, developing anti-inflammatory and cell-regenerative healing effects.

The oils and essential oils used in these soaps come from 100% certified organic growing or wild harvesting. Organic coconut oil is sourced from small farms in the Philippines in the Davao and Agusan regions.

Coconut palms are grown in a mixture with other crops in fields of no more than 5 hectares. Organic olive oil comes from the Mediterranean region of northern Tunisia.

Biodegradability

Soap made from vegetable oils has the unique property that immediately after use it reacts chemically with limescale, which is always present in waste water, to form calcium soap. As a result, the surfactant effect of the soap is neutralised (primary decomposition). This primary degradation takes place within a few hours.

Subsequently, the calcium soap is 100% decomposed by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water (secondary decomposition). Within a few hours, the ethanol is reintegrated into the natural cycle. In addition to the natural glycerin released from the oils during saponification, we add vegetable glycerin, which binds moisture.

Although the components of starch, sugar and fat are extracted from plant materials in the production of sugar surfactants, they remain completely intact in their natural molecular structure. For this reason, it is relatively easy for micro-organisms to rapidly degrade these surfactants.

Surfactants such as soap and sugar are classified as readily biodegradable according to OECD guidelines.
