HEBE - Traditional Greek jams
Hebe is the name of a series of fruit marmalades, known in Greece as "sweet by the spoonful", which have been a common part of the Greek household for centuries. The English name "spoon sweets" is derived from the traditional Greek greeting of visitors, when a spoonful of one or another preserve was served in a small glass or crystal bowl with a glass of cold water.
Hebe fruit marmalades are produced in the Pelion mountains in central Greece, the ancient home of the mythological centaurs and famous for these products.
Most often, these jams are eaten as a topping for yogurt and vanilla ice cream, the perfect sweet spot for a snack or to end a meal.
In addition, they are used as a topping for cheesecakes, pancakes and waffles, instead of jam on bread with butter and viennoiserie, in smoothies and milkshakes, in layer cakes or as a sweet accompaniment to cheese.
