PLANET PALEO
Brand's website: PLANET PALEOThe Planet Paleo brand was founded in 2016 by Ben Shouler, a nutritional therapist with a solid track record in nutraceutical research who has worked with many leading natural health companies.
Over the years, Ben has gained a comprehensive knowledge of nutrition and herbal medicine, which is reflected in Planet Paleo's versatile product offering.
This knowledge led him to meet another professional in the field, Mr. Graham Botfield, and together they founded Living Planet Distribution, which focuses on the production, sale and distribution of unique nutritional supplements that we are proud to bring to the Czech Republic for you, our dear customers.
Although Ben has always been fascinated by the scientific knowledge of nutrition and natural medicine, he has also been fascinated by ancient healing remedies and the more holistic approach of traditional medicine. Planet Paleo is based on the perfect combination of these two approaches.
"I wanted to create a brand that would take paleo to the next level. One that teaches people the best principles while leaving room for them to evolve."
Ben Shouler
Planet Paleo Evolution
2011
Like many people, Ben discovered the Paleo diet when he started having health problems late in life. This diet led him to try collagen, and the great results from regular use prompted him to further research how eating collagen-rich foods benefits the body.
It was clear to him that the modern diet - and its emphasis on eating mostly lean muscle meat - was lacking the vital nutrients found in gelatin, collagen and bone broth. These substances can play a keyrole in strengthening and lubricating our intestines, skin and joints, and even benefit the immune system.
Keto-winner 2015
At the time, Ben discovered that the market for collagen was incredibly limited and the only way to get quality collagen from grass fed animals was to import it from the US, which was expensive and impractical.
So Ben launched a project to bring his own collagen products to the UK market with a focus on ethics, sustainability and quality ingredients, and so Planet Paleo was born.
2016
The range has quickly expanded to include a range of products, many of which combine therapeutic doses of herbs, vitamins and minerals in synergy with collagen.
Awards for Planet Paleo Collagen 2017-2018
In recent years, Planet Paleo has become the proud recipient of several prestigious health and beauty awards. In 2017, Primal Goddess collagen won the Best Cosmetic Supplement category at the Beauty Shortlist Awards, and in 2018 it won the Best Health Supplement category again. These awards celebrate excellence in natural beauty and wellness.
2019
In 2019, Planet Paleo products won two more awards. PÜRe Collagen has won the Beauty Shortlist award for the third time in 2019, this time in the collagen category. In the same year, PÜRe Collagen Keto Coffee was awarded in the Healthy Food and Drink category of the Janey Loves Platinum Awards. These awards are given for excellence and innovation in natural, ecological and organic products and services.
2020
This year, Planet Paleo launched the first organically certified bone broth powder in Europe: "When I founded the Planet Paleo brand, I wanted to launch a dehydrated bone broth powder rich in collagen at a time when it didn't exist anywhere in the world. I faced many challenges, the key one being sourcing raw materials that would meet our animal welfare standards. I am delighted that we have managed to create a product that is not only 100% organic, but also uses cattle reared to the strict KRAV standards, which are considered the gold standard for cattle farming anywhere in the world. I am convinced that this is the most ethical bone broth powder on the market."
2022
We are proud to hold the most certifications of any European collagen company, including LIAF Grass Fed, Soil Association, MSC and Halal certification.
We introduced new additions to our existing ranges and launched a brand new vegan collagen range, making us the most comprehensive collagen range in Europe.
As part of our ongoing efforts to be more sustainable, we have introduced new packaging that can be composted at home for all our products.
Collagen is not like collagen
However, not all collagen is the same. Planet Paleo's therapeutic blends include minerals, herbs and other active nutrients - along with gelatin and bone broth. What's more, Planet Paleo is constantly inventing new ways to incorporate this delicious Paleo diet into people's diets. Their innovative products can be added to smoothies, hot drinks and recipes, making it even easier to get the daily dose of collagen you need for a busy lifestyle.
All Planet Paleo products are held to the highest ethical standards, including the cattle from which the organic bone broth powder used comes from, and the fish in marine collagen that are wild-caught.
Planet Paleo Collagen Sources
Planet Paleo considers it a top priority to respect the food chain and the animals on which their products depend, because of course collagen is only as nutritious as the animals it comes from. Planet Paleo subscribes to high welfare standards, with cattle free to roam and graze on pasture 365 days a year. From weaning, they have full access to fresh air, grass and water throughout their lives and are never fed industrial cattle feed.
The ingredients for Planet Paleo's collagen and bone broths are fully sourced from farms in South America. The farms where the animals are kept and the slaughterhouses have strict animal welfare protocols, and the cattle are under official veterinary supervision at all times.
Planet paleo is the proud manufacturer of Europe's first organic bone collagen protein powder. Their powdered bone broth is made from high quality, organic, grass-fed cattle from Scandinavia. It is bred in accordance with the KRAV certification, which is considered the gold standard for breeding anywhere in the world. KRAV-certified livestock farming is characterised by strict animal welfare standards, which are higher than EU regulations for organic production. The basic principle is to respect the specific needs of each species in terms of behaviour, feed and environment.
What cattle and fish does Planet Paleo use for production?
Special Nelore Cattle - nelore cattle in South America originally come from India. It has a characteristic hump that goes over their shoulders.
Swedish Friesian cattle, Swedish red and white cattle - together, these two breeds make up almost 100 % of the Swedish national dairy herd.
Fish (sea bream) - planet Paleo uses only wild ling fish caught in the coastal waters of France to produce marine collagen. And because collagen is only made from the parts of the fish that would otherwise go to waste, it is the perfect way to eat sustainably, using the animal in its entirety, with no waste.
Planet Paleo's collagen definitely does not contain
- hormones antibiotics and antimicrobials
- growth stimulators and anabolic steroids
- synthetic drugs
- GMOs
Why use collagen at all?
For thousands of years, collagen-rich foods have been a key part of traditional diets around the world. For as long as our Paleo ancestors cooked food over a fire, they ate every part of the animals they hunted, including soups made from bones and cartilage. Bone broths are one of the most nutritious and digestible foods on the planet, from stewed oxtails in Africa to your grandmother's "age-old cure-all" chicken broth - many traditional recipes "in which the animal is eaten whole from nose to tail" are rich in collagen.
What are the benefits of collagen?
Collagen - (the name comes from the Greek for "glue") - is the most abundant protein in the human body. Most people associate collagen with youthful skin, but it is also an essential building block in the structure of bones, cartilage, muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as hair and nails. It even helps protect the lining of the intestines.
Collagen and its relation to ageing
As we age, collagen naturally decreases and its production slows down, so increasing our consumption of collagen-rich foods is a great way to increase our skin's elasticity, mobility and elasticity. While bone broths are a great way to get more of the micronutrients that are often lacking in modern diets - including collagen, chondroitin and glucosamine , not everyone has time to spend hours over a pot of bones in the kitchen.
Collagen supplementation
That's where collagen supplements come in. This form of collagen, made from powdered collagen from the bones and cartilage of fish, cows, pigs, or chickens, is known as "hydrolyzed," meaning that the collagen peptides have already been broken down and "pre-digested," allowing the body to easily absorb and utilize the proteins they contain. Planet Paleo collagen products can be easily incorporated into a busy lifestyle. As a soluble powder, it mixes well with liquids. Just put a scoop in your breakfast smoothie, juice or coffee, or sprinkle on yogurt or other foods.
