Who is behind the Badger brand
In the mid-1990s, founder Bill Whyte worked as a carpenter. His work was physically demanding and his hands often cracked and pinched in the freezing New England winters. One evening, looking for an effective solution, he mixed beeswax with olive oil to create a simple herbal balm. The balm helped him so much that he decided to share it with everyone he knew.
Bill called his new product "Bear Paw" but found that the name was already taken. After a night of deliberation, the next night a new name popped into his head: 'Badger'. With the help of his family, Bill began hand-filling cans in their kitchen. He packed them in handmade wooden boxes, toured hardware stores and sold them out of his work van. And the rest, as they say, is badger history.
The journey to the best ingredients
Badger believes that finding the best ingredients for their products requires getting closer to the source. They have travelled the world to meet the people who grow, harvest and process the amazing organic ingredients we use in our products.
"We tend to be fanatics about organic farming. That's because we believe that sustainable organic farming is our hope for the future. Imagine food, clothing and shelter made in harmony with nature, without the toxic chemicals that pollute the land, air and water today. It's easy for me to imagine because it makes sense."- Badger Bill Whyte, founder.
Organic certification guarantees that the raw materials are not genetically modified and are grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Badger prefers USDA-certified organic ingredients, which it considers the gold standard for personal care. Fair Trade certification ensures fair pay for workers and compliance with environmental standards.
They use only a few Fair Trade USA certified ingredients in their products and strive to use as many Fair Trade ingredients as possible. They also believe that regenerative agriculture, which sequesters carbon at the farm level, should be part of the climate change debate, and are exploring opportunities to work with suppliers to verify their organic practices.

Badger is committed to transparency and adheres to strict third-party standards. They are part of a prestigious group of businesses committed to positive social, environmental and economic change.
For Badger, money is not the goal, but a means to better work and quality care for employees. The company prides itself on fostering a work environment where employees feel comfortable and offers a range of benefits, including organic lunches, health insurance, maternity and paternity leave and a unique program that allows employees to spend the first 6 months at home with their baby.
Badger's core principles: useful products for real people
Bill Whyte created his first balm to heal the cracks on the hands of his fellow carpenters. Since then, the product range and the company have grown. But to this day, they still formulate their products with the goal of helping the people they love.
When they are ready, they proudly offer them to the world. This approach is fundamentally different from the conventional approach of creating products based on market data. By focusing on loved ones, they never compromise the safety, quality or goodness that their products bring. In addition, Badger's connection to nature influences the development process and inspires them to create pure body care products from fresh botanical ingredients that are full of life force.
This company creates simple products inspired by traditional medicine and natural healing methods. They work closely with product champions, customers and conduct research to better understand the needs each new product addresses. By combining ancient herbal traditions with modern scientific knowledge, it creates superfood products for the skin, rich in antioxidants and nutrients.
At Badger, they believe that people should treat their skin kindly and use healthy products that protect and nourish it.
