The uses of baking soda are limitless in the fields of cosmetics, home and garden.

How to detoxify the body

There are many recipes and procedures on the net, but its importance for detoxification and deacidification of the body is often underestimated. Maintaining the correct pH of the body is key to its healthy functioning and achieving smooth and soft skin.

1. During the first 2-3 days, mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/4 litre of warm water. Let the mixture fizz and drink it morning and evening on an empty stomach (in the morning at least 30 minutes before eating, in the evening about 1 hour before eating or on an empty stomach).
2. Gradually increase the dose to 1/2 teaspoon of soda per 1/4 litre of warm water twice a day. For overweight or elderly people, the dose can be increased up to 1 teaspoon per 1/4 litre of warm water. The acidity of the body can be checked using pH paper, available in pharmacies.

At the beginning of detoxification, you may feel lightheaded and dizzy. !!! Do not forget to take enough water !!!

Skin and oral care

• Adding soda to the rinse water will soften the skin after washing.
• Use to soften the skin on the feet during pedicure: soak in water with soda (approximately 70 g per 1 litre) for 15 minutes.
• Mix with water as a mouthwash.

Household care

• Mix with lemon juice and use to clean stainless steel sinks and faucets.
• Pouring into the waste for disinfection and odor removal.
• Pouring into shoes against odor.

• Against aphids: boil a litre of water, add half a teaspoon of soda, let cool and spray directly on the plants.
• Against ants: sprinkle baking soda on the place where they have a nest, repeat the procedure several times.
• Against slugs: salt their bodies. The soda erodes their body and the slug gradually dies and dries up.
• For roses: mix a litre of water, half a teaspoon of soda and a teaspoon of baker's yeast. Spray the entire rose to encourage plant growth and ensure abundant blooms.

Other tips

• Add a tablespoon to thermo bottles and coffee mugs to prevent unpleasant odors. Place a teaspoon of soda in a clean, dry mug or bottle and remove any unpleasant odours. But don't forget to empty the powder from the containers before further use!
• Bicarbona is a gentle but effective abrasive. Sprinkle it on surfaces including stainless steel and wipe with a damp cloth. Alternatively, make a paste with a small amount of water or liquid soap flakes and use it as a creamy cleanser.
• Carpets trap odours and dirt, which can be especially noticeable in homes with pets or smokers. Sprinkle the surface of the carpet generously with bicarbonate and leave for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight. Then vacuum up all the powder.
• Place the bowl of bicarbonate in the refrigerator to avoid unpleasant food odours.
• Once it stops absorbing odors from the refrigerator, use it as an abrasive cleaner (as mentioned above).
• Or keep your sink and drains clean and fresh by mixing it with hot water or white vinegar and pouring it into the stopper or drain hole. A solution of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda will fizz, which can help loosen impurities.
• Spoon three or four tablespoons of bicarb into an old pair of tights and tie a knot at the open end. Place them in your shoe closet and wherever you store sports equipment to eliminate odors.
• Sprinkle a damp cloth and use it to remove wax crayon scribbles from walls and furniture.
• For a quick acidity test of garden soil, scoop some soil into a small container and moisten it with water. Add some baking soda to the surface; if it bubbles, your soil is very acidic.
