Why buy
Healthstrong 's certified organic Chlorella tablets are carefully grown and harvested, free of contaminants and heavy metals. It has a broken cell wall that allows for the best digestion.
What is chlorella
Chlorella (Chlorella pyrenoidosa) is a type of algae that, like Spirulina, is a freshwater algae with a number of benefits. Unlike spirulina, it is a unicellular freshwater algae (spirulina is multicellular).
It is also one of the oldest known species on the planet, with the unique ability to reproduce 8 times a day, making it a sustainable source of nutrients.
Chlorella has a very hard outer shell, making it almost completely indigestible to humans, so supplemental forms undergo a special process that breaks down this outer shell to increase its digestibility.
Chlorella is a good source of protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals. Most of the chlorella that is available is grown in Japan or Taiwan. It is produced in the form of tablets or liquid extracts. It is one of the most widely used dietary supplements in Japan.
The difference between chlorella and spirulina
Although they look, smell and even taste similar, there are a few key differences:
- Structure: Chlorella is a true unicellular alga with a nucleus, while Spirulina is a multicellular plant without a distinct nucleus. For this reason, spirulina is much larger than chlorella.
- Colour: Spirulina is a cyanobacteria, a blue-green type of algae, while chlorella is a green algae.
- Amount of nucleic acids: Both are good sources of nucleic acids, although Chlorella has almost twice as many as Spirulina. Nucleic acids are important factors for DNA and RNA in the body.
- Digestibility: Spirulina can be easily consumed after harvesting, while Chlorella must go through a process of breaking down cell walls before the body can use it.
- Chlorophyll content: Chlorella has a higher chlorophyll content, almost double.
- Iron, protein and GLA: Spirulina contains more iron, protein and the beneficial gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
- Heavy metals: Chlorella has unique properties in its cell walls that allow it to bind heavy metals and other pollutants (spirulina does not have this advantage).
Chlorella quality over price!
- It is important to buy quality chlorella, as poor quality supplements may contain mercury or have a cracked cell wall, making them unusable to the body.
- Due to the detoxifying effect, it is also important to start slowly and consult a doctor before taking if any medical condition is present.
Usage:
Although it may not be a real source of nutrients due to its high price, there may still be reasons to use this microalgae.
Detox
Chlorella is a source of chlorophyll, protein, iron, magnesium and amino acids, but most importantly it is known as a detoxifying supplement. Due to its small size and unique properties, it is able to bind heavy metals and unwanted chemicals in the body.
However, its safety for detoxification is debated because it can remove heavy metals but does not bind strongly enough to fully remove them. This means that it can actually increase the level of heavy metals moving around in the body.
It is often used by people undergoing chemotherapy or radiation to help reduce the body's chemical load, and is said to support the liver and detoxification pathways in the body without removing beneficial minerals from it.
The most researched use of chlorella in detoxification is to take small amounts over time to prevent the accumulation of heavy metals in the body. This study showed that it may have a protective effect on mice exposed to lead and other heavy metals.
Important: Anyone who has been exposed to any type of heavy metal should work with a doctor or practitioner who specializes in removal. Removing metals too quickly or removing them with the wrong substances can actually make the situation worse!
Immune system support
WebMD states that Chlorella is used to boost the immune system, to support digestive problems, to increase the number of good bacteria in the digestive system, and for ulcers.
A double-blind placebo study found that regular use increased natural killer cell activity and early inflammatory response.
The study stated:
These results may suggest a beneficial immunostimulatory effect of short-term chlorella supplementation, which increases NK cell activity and the production of interferon-? and interleukin-12 as well as interleukin-1?, cytokines induced by Th-1 cells in healthy humans.
It is important to note that the study only looked at short-term effects and that we do not know the long-term immune consequences. Because it affects the immune system, people with any type of immune problem or autoimmune disease should also work with a doctor when taking this or any other immune stimulant.
There is anecdotal evidence that it can help reduce hypertension and cholesterol, increase energy, reduce asthma attacks and PMS, and provide relief for people with fibromyalgia.
Side effects
Although Chlorella is generally considered safe, there are some warnings and cautions associated with it. It may contain moderate amounts of iodine, so people with sensitive thyroids or iodine allergies should avoid it.
Persons with autoimmune diseases should consult a physician first, as it can increase immune function and exacerbate these conditions. There are also concerns about neurotoxicity with long-term use or high-dose use due to bioaccumulation of manganese.
Sources differ on safety in pregnancy, so pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their individual doctors and midwives to assess whether these supplements would be safe or beneficial for them.
In addition, it can cause a detoxifying effect in some people and should be avoided by those who are sensitive to certain types of moulds. Due to its high vitamin K content, it increases blood clotting, so it should be avoided by people with bleeding disorders.
It is a great source of iron and should be taken in moderation by men and post-menopausal women.

Oliver, the British founder and chief formulator of the Healthstrong brand of liposomal vitamins, is a long-time biohacker. The motto of his brand is:
'We firmly believe that being healthy is not a goal, but a way of life.'
Live life stronger
Founded in 2018, the Healthstrong brand has brought over 12 years of wellness experience as its most valuable initial investment, which continues to expand and deepen. it combines knowledge of the natural biological processes of our bodies and nature in general, along with the latest technology in the development of all-natural supplements. One of the newest trends in nutrition is the encapsulation of micronutrients with liposomes and this is a technology that Healthstrong has been focusing on and many of their products are liposomal based. Liposomal dietary supplements are offered by the Healthstrong brand under the AbsorbX line. A number of these supplements are also suitable for vegans, including vitamin D3, which is often of animal origin. In addition to this line, you can also find high quality and pure magnesium oils, CBD products, superfoods and much more.
Oliver and his team have combined proven vitamins, minerals and nutrients, backed by scientific knowledge, with the most effective methods and manufacturing to the highest standards (GMP). Their products are the only ones on the market that do not contain preservatives such as potassium sorbate E202 or glycerin. They also contain no sugar, gluten, soy or alcohol. Instead, Oliver uses the latest method of preservation using sea buckthorn extract. These liposomal vitamins also have the highest possible absorption rate, min. 95%, and a minimum of 24 hours of action in the body - all confirmed by independent tests. They also have the advantage of good taste, which is a big problem with liquid liposomal vitamins - they usually do not taste pleasant. The beautiful gift packaging in a black paper tube is the icing on the cake.
What are liposomes?
However, liposomes are nothing new - they were discovered by Alec Bangham in Cambridge, England, as early as 1964. Since then, they have been used in the pharmaceutical industry for more efficient drug delivery. However, in the field of natural dietary supplements, they have started to gain their position only in recent years.
Liposomes are characterized by their double phospholipid layer. In our body, they naturally function as a kind of transport vehicle for active substances. In layman's terms, we can think of them as bubbles that form a protective layer that keeps active ingredients from being absorbed or damaged prematurely once they enter our bodies. The phospholipid bilayer resembles our own cell membrane. It has both a hydrophilic and hydrophobic part and thus protects nutrients from premature dissolution in fat and water. This phospholipid layer also acts as a building block for our cell membranes.
What are the benefits of liposomal dietary supplements?
- Compared to other supplemental forms, liposomes increase bioavailability, the absorption of nutrients into the blood.
- They transport nutrients into the cells, to the place where they are most needed.
- Phospholipids then provide the body with additional benefits - they are one of the building blocks of cell membranes.
- Healthstrong liposomal supplements are liquid - so they are a great alternative for those who have trouble swallowing tablets or capsules.
- Liposomal supplements generally stay in the blood longer than other forms of supplements. They therefore provide the body with nutrition for a much longer period of time.
- You can take them at any time - before or after meals. However, they get into the blood most quickly on an empty stomach.
