Freeze-dried lamb kidneys originally from Iceland, wild grazing animals - 90 caps
Nutritional supplement from free-ranging Icelandic lambs. Freeze-dried lamb kidneys work to support histamine tolerance and proper kidney function. This dietary supplement is for all those who want to support their organs with the most natural resources.
Why buy
"Hunter & Gather's nutritional supplement, freeze-dried pure kidney, is designed for those who want targeted support for optimal kidney function and histamine tolerance with true whole food organ supplements... without compromise and without additives."
Hunter & Gather 's freeze-dried lamb kidneys are a bioactive and natural source of natural DAO (diaminoxidase), which is essential for those suffering from histamine intolerance. They also contain B12, selenium and several other enzymes, peptides and cofactors that are considered essential for optimal kidney function.
According to the Hunter and Gather brand, our ancestors followed the philosophy that if a person's internal organs are troubled, their proper function should be supported by eating the same organ from a healthy animal.
The raw materials used are processed by freeze-drying. It is a raw product in which the maximum content of nutrients and active ingredients is preserved. The lamb organs used are in their natural form - without fat removal, for optimal absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
The nutritional supplement is in the form of gelatin capsules. Ingredients come from free-range sheep raised under strict conditions - no GMO feed, antibiotics or hormones.
The dietary supplements are of course free of unnecessary fillers such as magnesium stearate or titanium dioxide. They are free of gluten, added sugar or vegetable oils.
Why take kidneys in dried form?
Many of us are deficient in bioavailable vitamins and minerals due to a restricted nose-to-tail diet. Synthetic vitamins and minerals are full of unnecessary additives, fillers and fillers.
Kidney pills contain DAO & vit B12 in a highly bioavailable natural form. Ideal for people with histamine intolerance, people who have a watery runny nose (after eating cheese or wine), genetic MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase or MTHFR) SNP* or low DAO** levels.
* The MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) gene provides instructions for the production of the MTHFR enzyme, which plays a key role in the processing of amino acids that are the building blocks of proteins. Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is an enzyme that functions as a catalyst for important biochemical reactions in the body.
It converts vitamin B9 (folate) into methylfolate, which is necessary for a process called methylation. Methylation takes place in every cell and tissue in your body. One of the most important tasks of methylation is the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, which the body uses to make proteins and other important compounds.
Methionine makes proteins, repairs cells, detoxifies, promotes inflammatory response and helps the liver process fats. Most importantly, methionine produces glutathione, your body's most powerful detoxifier.
Research shows that people with autoimmune and cancer diseases have lower glutathione levels than people without these diseases. This information suggests that they may have a genetic mutation associated with the MTHFR gene.
In addition, methionine is broken down in the liver into an inflammation-fighting substance called SAM-e (s-adenosylmethionine). SAM-e helps break down neurotransmitters and aids in cell renewal.
A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the MTHFR gene refers to a variation at one position in the DNA sequence in different individuals.
Two common MTHFR SNPs are:
1. C677T (rs1801133): In this SNP, cytosine (C) is replaced by thymine (T) at position 677 in the gene. This variant may lead to a decrease in MTHFR enzyme activity. People with one copy of this variant (heterozygotes, CT) usually have a slightly reduced activity of the enzyme, while people with two copies (homozygotes, TT) have a more pronounced reduction, which can lead to higher blood levels of homocysteine (hyperhomocysteinemia).
2. A1298C (rs1801131): In this SNP, adenine (A) is replaced by cytosine (C) at position 1298. This variant also affects enzyme activity, but generally to a lesser extent than the C677T variant.
These SNP variants can affect the risk of certain health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and complications during pregnancy. Elevated homocysteine levels, which may result from reduced MTHFR activity, are associated with an increased risk of these diseases.
However, it is important to note that the presence of these SNPs alone does not determine disease; they are only one of many factors that can influence health outcomes.
Understanding MTHFR status can be important for nutritional and medical interventions. For example, individuals with certain MTHFR variants may benefit from specific forms of folate(such as methylfolate) instead of the more common folic acid because their bodies may have difficulty converting folic acid into its active form.
Genetic testing can identify MTHFR SNPs and provide valuable information for individual health and wellness strategies.
** Low levels of DAO (diamine oxidase) refer to reduced activity or concentration of the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), which is involved in the breakdown of histamine. Histamine is a compound involved in immune reactions, gastric acid secretion and also as a neurotransmitter.
When DAO levels are low, histamine is not sufficiently metabolized, leading to its accumulation in the body and can cause symptoms of histamine intolerance.
Symptoms of histamine intolerance caused by low DAO levels include:
-
Gastrointestinal problems: Bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramps.
-
Cardiovascular symptoms: flushing, headaches, migraines and dizziness.
-
Respiratory problems: nasal congestion, sneezing and asthma-like symptoms.
-
Skin reactions: urticaria, itching and eczema.
-
Neurological symptoms: fatigue, anxiety and sleep problems.
Causes of low DAO levels:
-
Genetic factors: some individuals have genetic variants that lead to lower DAO enzyme activity.
-
Gut health: conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease and other gut disorders can interfere with DAO production.
-
Medications: some medications, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antibiotics, and antidepressants, can inhibit DAO activity.
-
Nutrient deficiency: a lack of cofactors necessary for DAO function, such as vitamin B6, copper and vitamin C, can reduce its activity.
-
Diet**: Consumption of histamine-rich foods (e.g., ripe cheese, fermented foods, alcohol) or histamine-releasing foods (e.g., tomatoes, spinach, chocolate) may worsen symptoms in individuals with low DAO activity.
Management of low DAO levels:
-
1. Dietary modification: avoiding or limiting foods high in histamine and foods that release histamine can help manage symptoms.
-
Supplements**: Taking DAO supplements may help break down dietary histamine.
-
Addressing underlying conditions**: Treating gut health problems or adjusting medications that affect DAO activity.
-
Optimizing nutrient intake**: Ensuring adequate intake of nutrients that support DAO function, such as vitamin B6, vitamin C and copper.
Testing for low levels of DAO:
-
DAO enzyme test: measures the activity of the DAO enzyme in the blood.
-
Histamine levels: Evaluation of histamine levels in the blood or urine may provide indirect evidence of DAO deficiency.
Consultation with a health professional, such as a gastroenterologist or nutritionist, can help develop a management plan for individuals with low DAO levels and histamine intolerance.
While organ nutrition is in an advanced state in the West, in the Czech Republic we are just catching the first swallows. We were the first shop in the country to offer organ meat from Icelandic lambs from Hunter and Gather until Brexit ruined it.
We didn't give up, and looked for a quality supplier of a full range of organ nutrition where the origin of the cattle is traceable. We found him in Holland with the brand Modern Native. See the full offer here.

Who is behind the Hunter & Gather brand
Hunter & Gather was founded by a British couple - Amy, a lifelong sufferer of celiac disease, and Jeff, a self-described experimenter with different approaches to healthy eating. The company's philosophy is to create healthy, nutritious and maximum quality products. All of this, of course, with respect for the environment and maximum transparency towards customers. They base their products on healthy fats such as avocado, coconut, ghee, tallow and butter produced by free-ranging cattle. On the other hand, you will not find any gluten or added sugar in the products. Whether you're vegan, celiac, paleo enthusiast, a keto or low carb dieter, or eating a sugar or dairy free diet, Hunter & Gather has the right product for you.
Hunter & Gather Basic Principles
Our principles are at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make - after trying our food, we hope you'll agree that we're doing something unique at Hunter & Gather.
Quality
We use only the finest ingredients so our products are of the best quality. We carefully source, test and continuously taste test our range. We choose to give the individual ingredients the opportunity to shine on their own, and therefore openly embrace a "less is more" philosophy that keeps our formulations completely pure and free of any fillers or unnecessary extras.
Care for the environment
We believe in business being a change for the better and that businesses have a duty to the environment in which they operate. For this reason, we actively reduce the use of plastics. We use only glass or compostable packaging, pay a fair price for our ingredients, and work with like-minded farmer cooperatives that provide support and education to avocado farmers and their families in Kenya.
Real food
Our love of real, delicious, nutrient-dense foods has led us in business to produce real foods that are 100% natural, free of sugars, grains and inflammatory fats such as vegetable or seed oils.
Transparency
Transparency is absolutely key to us, so you can trust us to provide you with only the highest integrity products. From sourcing ingredients to our views on all lifestyle factors, we encourage you to always question conventional wisdom.
Why the name Hunter & Gather?
It's not just a tribute to the days of hunter-gatherers, when real, nutrient-rich food was crucial to our evolution. The name Hunter & Gather is also closely related to the lineage of Amy and Jeff. Amy's birth name is Hunt and Jeff's birth name is Gathergood. They say some things are meant to be...
Who is Amy?
Amy is a long-time celiac, and was diagnosed with this condition at the infant age of 18 months, after completing a 6-month food study plus countless hospital visits. These hardships later turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as they taught Amy to fully appreciate the impact food has on her optimal health and how to cook real meals from basic ingredients. A favorite product of Amy's from Hunter & Gather is the extra virgin avocado oil, which she uses not only for cooking but also for beauty (it's a great facial moisturizer and hair balm). Her perfect dinner is a cauliflower risotto with prawns, topped with avocado oil and garlic.
Who is Jeff?
Jeff is an experimenter with an insatiable appetite to try and develop new things and question established norms. His unwavering commitment to constantly challenge established habits and norms helps explain why the Hunter & Gather brand remains at the forefront of the UK's healthier living movement. Jeff saw a huge change in his personal life when he adopted a real food eating policy, started sleeping well and long, exercising and moving, and stopped using social media in the evening. Jeff's favorite Hunter & Gather product is the avocado mayo because it really pushes the boundaries of clean eating options and tastes amazing! The perfect dinner for him is a juicy free-range steak accompanied only by avocado mayonnaise.
